Google Custom Search Engine to Replace Actual Search

Hello guys,

in the willing to be able to perform a search on an install where we use
in-link and in-news, I tested Google Custom Search
Engine<http://www.google.com/cse/>,
formerly known as CSE.
The result is really good, because it give the search all the power of
google, and it can even refine search by any in-portal criteria, using custom
files description in
XML<http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/customsearch/docs/dev_guide.html>

I propose to integrate at least a simple version to replace actual buggy
side box. In my try to achieve this, I didn't found how to pass a parameter
from input field to result page, and as far as I've understood, all seems
embedded into inportal, right? Could you help me on this, and give me your
opinion on this idea?
