Recently new 4.2.0 version of CKEditor has been released. As of today In-Portal 5.2.1 (RC1) has been using same CKEditor 3.6.6 and corresponding CKFinder.
We are proposing to do the following:
- Upgrade both CKEditor (4.2.0 - http://ckeditor.com/whatsnew) and CKFinder (2.3.1 - http://cksource.com/ckfinder/whatsnew) to their latest versions in In-Portal 5.3.0 and create patches for In-Portal 5.2.1 in case some project built based on 5.2.x branch decides use it.
- Explore and introduce "Inline Editing" (demo: http://ckeditor.com/demo#inline see screenshot below) capabilities instead of pop-up/modal window Editing as we have now.
Note we should be aware of 4.3.0 and 4.2.1 coming up not too long from now. Here is their roadmap http://dev.ckeditor.com/roadmap
