When you are in admin, and you are viewing, for example, all links, you can sort them by clicking on top column of your choice.

But whatever sorting you select, it's affected by "pop", "hot", "editor's choice", and thus lead to total messed results: first links are those enhanced, with your sorting choice, and after this first list, another sorting starts, for links without any enhancements, like this:

Filter by : ID

Results:
7 - link 7 "pop" "hot"
8 - link 8 "pop" "hot"
9 - link 9 "pop" "hot"
1 - link 1
2 - link 2
3 - link 3
...

I suggest not to modify sorting in admin using front-end mechanics.
